What Causes Calf Pain With Indentation After Exertion?

I my calf made a popping sound/ sensation while playing football two weeks ago. I tired to play again yesterday. But it was too painful in my lower calf to run. The are now appears to have a indented sock style mark even tho I haven't worn socks today, what could this indentation and calf pain be?
