What Causes Caving In Of The Scalp And Thinning Of Hair?

Hi, my girlfriend has noticed that the left side of the top (toward the front)seems to be caved in a little bit, she also is experiencing thinning of her hair. She is turning 41 on the 11th of February .. She has recently been diagnosed with lynch syndrome and we are very scared that is could be cancer maybe ? We really need to go to a doctor to get her checked out but we do not have any insurance ... I was hoping that someone could maybe give us an idea of what we are looking at?
