What Causes Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy?

My husband has suffered both clots & small bleeds to the brain. Consultant discharged him with term, peripheral amyloid angiopathy . What does all,of this mean for his future & likelihood of having further incidents? He is 77 years old & has also experienced a heart attack & stent thrombosis last year.
