What Causes Change In Facial Features Upon Wearing Dentures?

Hi, I ve been wearing dentures for the past 3 years, they are super comfortable , but they ve changed the appearance of my face and made me look much older then my age. I m 51 now, was 48 when I ve got them.... Why is this so? Is there anything that I can do about it?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of change in facial features upon wearing dentures. Well this is very common occurence which could be psychological as well as physical consequences.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do facial stretching exercises such as you have to grin broadly with your denture teeth and lips when mouth closed. Lightly massage your cheeks. You have to give proper gum massage. Visit dentist once as well to get correct fit of denture such as there should be decreased space between chin and nose and thinning of upper lip. Denture should be correct height.
