What Causes Chest And Gum Pain While Treating Acid Reflux?

I am 55 and have had acid reflux for 10 years. I take a medication twice a day for it. But even when I have it when taking the meds my gums, especially on the bottom, hurt so bad I have to remove my dentures. I simply cannot stand the pain. I m also having chest pain the whole time this is happening. I ve been to the ER and stayed overnight. They ran tests and said everything looked find with my heart? Does acid reflux cause gum pain? Is it normal?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query gum pain if occurring in lower front teeth area only and also you wear dentures then the first thing that should be evaluated is to check for the irregularities or sharp areas on the tissue surface of the denture that might be traumatising your gums causing pain..
Acid reflux does not seems to be probable cause for gum pain..
Pain in chest is however due to acid reflux only..
I would suggest you to consult a Dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and examination of the tissue surface of denture can help in diagnosis and will be treated accordingly..
You can as of now apply numbing gel over the sore gums..
For acid reflux along with medications you can also do the following remedies for relief like:
-Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water..
-Always take walk after meals and take your dinner atleast 2 hours before sleep..
-You should sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet..
-Avoid large meals..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
