What Causes Chest And Left Arm Pain?

My wife is experiencing pain in her chest and left arm. The pain is not constant and has been occurring regularly over the past 5 days. The pain in her arm can best be described as needles and pins and the chest pain start from under her breast to her shoulder. We are going through tough financial times and a very close family member is going through a divorce. Can this be anxiety or cardiac arrest?

Hello,

Your wife is experiencing pain in her chest and left arm. Chest pain radiating to the left arm is commonly indicative of heart ailment. You are suggested to get her examined by a cardiologist and get routine cardiac tests like stress test, echocardiography, EKG, X-ray, blood works, blood sugar (R / PP), lipid function tests done to detect any developing CAD, coronary artery disease, she will be treated accordingly.

She is also experiencing pins and needles in her arm, it is indicative of nerve disorder, peripheral neuropathy, she should get NCV test, EEG, etc., done so that the treatment can be started at the earliest. Give her food rich in vitamin B6, B12, folic acid or supplements (Nervup OD), once daily for 7-10 days. Help her stay away from addictions if any.

Anxiety, stress and panic attacks may trigger the symptoms of the ailment she already has been suffering from. She should stay away from stress (emotional or physical) to be comfortable. Blood glucose level should be controlled at all cost.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
