Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Occasionally, sometime often, I have a hollow feeling in my chest, get a little light headed.. when I check my pulse I can detect an irregular heart beat, it feels like my heart is missing a beat. Recently, I counted a missing heart beat for about every 10 beats, or roughly six times a minute... what kind of arrythimia do I have and is it an immediate concern?
Dizziness and chest discomfort can be due to many reasons unless you have a history of heart problems. Are you taking any medicines on regular basis? Sometimes it is associated with fluctuation in blood pressure due to some underlying pathology. I would suggest you see a cardiologist just to clear your doubt and explain your condition and all medical history to him.
He will do a physical examination and suggest you some diagnostic tests like echocardiography and some blood work to see how the heart is functioning. Once the test results come, he will guide you further depending on it. Paying a small visit to a cardiologist will be the next thing you should do.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
