General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I'm dr. Anto.

Thank you for submitting your question.

Asthma is allergic related.

Emphysema or COPD is caused by something such as smoking.

If your symptoms exacerbate during certain season or something like food, drink, or environment it means you are having asthma.

Remember that there is ACOS, which is asthma Chronic obstructive syndrome which is the combination of asthma and Emphysema itself.

So don't worry about the diagnosis, as long as it is treated correctly you should be fine.

Of course get off from smoking which is the pitfall for asthma or emphysema would be a wise move.

Bronchodilator such as regular salbutamol in oral or even spray could be used accordingly.

Some corticosteroid might be used to maintain the condition so it won't exacerbate too often.

Thank you.
