What Causes Chest Pain Along With Numbness On The Face While On Lexiscan?

I had s nuclear stress test today using Lexiscan. I did not respond well, I had tightness in the chest and right neck, pains in chest, numb face, the list goes on. The test was done at eleven am, it s now 9:30pm and I m still have the same problems, I was admmited into the cardiac ward shortly after the stress test. My question is: even though an allergy to this medicine is rare I evidently am allergic to it and want to know how long this reaction May last

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your guess is right and these side effects are certainly due to lexiscan.but as >6hrs has elapsed from the time of administration of the drug, it must have been eliminated. The following are some causes of delayed elimination of drug:
1) end-stage kidney failure
2) severe liver failure

Aminophylline is given very slowly intravenously to reverse the adverse effects of lexiscan. My sincere advice is to notify the persistence of your symptoms to the concerned cardiologist immediately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi.m,
