What Causes Chest Pain And Coughing Of Phlegm?

Last night I got a severe chest pain - mainly on my right side. The pain is slightly to my back and across my chest. I have a cough and when I cough it really hurts. I was able to sleep through the night but was slightly conscious of the pain. If I take a deep breath it hurts. I am also coughing up some phlem

I can understand your situation and problem.
By your history and description, you are mostly having pleuritic pain.
Chest pain on coughing and deep breathing is mostly due to pleurisy (inflammation of the pleura).
And lung infection is the most common cause for this.
You are also having cough and phlegm. So this also suggest lung infection more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. Chest x ray to rule out lung infection.
You may need antibiotics and antihistamine drugs.
