What Causes Chest Pain And Palpitations?

Im 21 and have had a hole in my heart (VSD) all my life. it never really had any effect on me as a child, but since i came to uni 3 years ago i have started having palpatations, pains and skipped beats.

I have been to see my consultant, who did an MRI which showed it was not caused by my VSD. He then did a 24hour ecg, but on that day I had no symptoms so theres nothing he can do about it.

Its really starting to affect my life, is there anything I can do to help reduce the symptoms or doesnt anyone know what could be causing it? Could the fact that ive got a VSD be related?

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that palpitations commonly happens because of anemia, dehydration, anxiety or underlying heart disease. It’s recommended for you to get all blood work up done and do a loop recorder if blood reports come normal.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
