What Causes Chest Pain Despite Taking Prilosec?

I get a pain between my breasts like a heart attack. It only goes away when I take Prilosec. It doesn t matter what I eat, spicy foods or oatmeal. It does not happen between meals or at night. It doesn t matter if it s a big or small bite. Liquids are ok. My GP gave me a EKG, chest X-rays, blood work and a test where I drank some meds and blew into a tube. All negative. Now GP wants upper GI? Any suggestions?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

An upper GI scan would be a good idea to take a look inside the esophagus and stomach.

This would determine if there are any changes to these areas that may be contributing to your pain such as inflammation or ulcer formation.

Th ekg, chest x ray would have shown if there were any issues with the lungs or heart.

I hope this helps
