Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chest Pain Every Morning Despite Taking Antibiotics?
for the last several days I wake in the morning with chest pain. Eating makes it worse, no matter what I eat. sitting up doesn t help the pain and neither does pepto or tums. I already take Nexium daily. I also take a sustained dosage on nitro daily and nitro as needed. Neither seem to make a difference either. I have 3 stents and the rest of my arteries look to be no more than 40% blocked. For the last 2 days, the pain/pressure never totally goes away. I am 63 years old, overweight and have a history of hypertension and high cholesterol. I am also on anti-depressants. I don t want to go to the ER if it is likely to be just extreme heart burn (which I also have had in the past)
If the Nexium is not at maximum dose then this should be maximized.
If the pain is worse on compression of the central chest or with the movement of the upper limbs, then it is possible that it is costochondritis which is inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs and the sternum.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
