What Causes Chest Pain, Palpitation And Breathlessness?
Hi I got diagnosed with WPW last year, I always get strange heart palpitations, struggle to catch breath and sharp pains across my chest. Being only 21 and a very keen footballer I panic about playing and what could happen. I haven t played now for over 1 year. I wanted to know if it was safe to play? You see more and more footballers collapsing on the pitch etc. and I don t want to be one of them!
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your problem and problem. In my opinion you should consult cardiologist first and get done 1. Stress test 2. Electro physiological study of heart WPW (wolf Parkinson while) syndrome is seen as heart block and can cause sudden cardiac death if untreated. So we need to see the severity of block and his your heart works under stress. On the basis of above tests, further treatment if needed can be done. Treatment option for your Syndrome is ablation therapy or pacing. So better to consult cardiologist first and treat yourself if necessary than you can play football.
