What Causes Chest Pain Radiating To The Back And Neck?

I m 25 years old. Im having chest pains That go into my back and even up my neck. My heart rate has been anywhere from 109 to 117 at resting stage. I was also in a head on car collision a couple years ago and had both arms, both hips, pelvis, and foot broken. I had some of my intestines removed and liver and bladder was torn. I have metal all throughout me and I ve had 16 surgeries so far. I had issues while in the hospital then with my heart pausing and then pounding really heart to start again. My doctors just assumed it was the port the put in my neck down to my heart. This has been going on for a while and I ve ignored it but the last month it s gotten so bad. The chest pain is more intense and my heart rate is getting higher. My white blood count is also high at the moment. I m not sure if I should be worried about this or continue to ignore it. It s starting to worry me some. I don t know what to think or do.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

These are typical symptoms of ischemic heart disease and it requires evaluation. This may indicate specific heart ischemic issues such as angina pectoris or heart arrithmias and this should be definitely evaluated by cardiologist and you need to do at least ECG, heart ultrasound and ergometry.

Also, you should check your blood pressure and regulated body mass, avoid smoking. Other risk factors should be established and prevented but at this point serious issues must be ruled out and the need for invasive angiography discussed with doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wish you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
