Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of pneumothorax (air in th lungs) is more in the past.
And pneumothorax can recur again especially when patient is active smoker.
Pneumothorax can cause similar kind of chest pain.
So we should definitely rule out recurrent pneumothorax in your case.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and chest x ray.
Chest x ray is must for the diagnosis of pneumothorax.
You may need ICD (intercostal drainage) insertion for pneumothorax. First of all, quit smoking as soon as possible, it is not a good habit.
Don't worry, you will be alright. Consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
