What Causes Chest Pain, Shortness Of Breath And Sore Throat?
Hi I am 5 weeks post-op following sub-total hysterectomy. Whilst in hospital I had chest pains and shortness of breath, whereupon they did an ecg etc and they said nothing was the matter. This has continued for the past five weeks off and on, I went to the doctors two weeks ago where again an ecg was done and my bp, the only outcome was a slight increase in my pulse. This is disconcerting as I dont know what it was, only to say I had slight problems with svt two years ago which settled down, and i also had a mibi scan which showed no problem with my heart. Can you offer any advice, I was pretty low in health prior to the op also with sore throats and had been put on amoxicillin.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. First of all no need to worry for major cardiac post operative complications because your ecg and mibi scans are normal. Possibility of bronchitis is more likely for your symptoms. Bronchitis is inflammation of airways and it is common after surgery. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). If PFT is showing obstructive defect then bronchitis is the cause. You will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
