What Causes Chest Pain While Suffering From Bronchitis?

I was just diagnosed with bronchitis on Sunday at an emergency room. I then went to my doctor and she confirmed that is what I have. She prescribed an antibiotic (z pack). Today I have had two severe coughing attacks where I felt I could barely breathe. While coughing I got sharp shooting pains across my upper chest until shortly after I stopped coughing. Is that normal? I am supposed to fly out tomorrow morning from Arizona to Michigan.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. I think you should take even some medications to help with cough such deslorstadine or benadryl 10 mg twice daily orally. Also the following may help you feel better:

1Don't smoke.
2Suck on cough drops or hard candies to soothe a dry or sore throat. Cough drops won't stop your cough, but they may make your throat feel better.
3.Breathe moist air from a humidifier, a hot shower, or a sink filled with hot water. The heat and moisture can help keep mucus in your airways moist so you can cough it out easily
4..Use nonprescription medicine, such as acetaminophenibuprofen, oraspirin, to relieve fever and body aches.
5.Drink plenty of fluids so that you do not become dehydrated.
Take care.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you.
Best regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka ( general and family physician ).
