What Causes Chest Pain, tightness And Vomiting In Elderly Person?
I care for a 75 year old man who has survived rectal cancer. Yesterday he started having chest pain complaining of a tightness in chest radiating down both arms. We spent 3 hours in local ER. They did EKG and blood check. All tests were normal. Today he is feeling bad. He has been throwing up on and off all day and has been sleeping all day. No fever and blood pressure normal. Should I take him back to ER?
Yes, if electrolyte and water is depleted then IV solution have to be given, tab Ondansetron for symptomatic vomiting and nausea, for 2-3 days multivitamins can be given and ORS 140 ml for every stool or vomiting to replete, At this age it is good to take to ER again to check vitals again.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
