What Causes Chest Tightness And Heart Palpitations?
Hello. I'm a 46 year old male. I've been experiencing chest tightness on and off since I had an operation last November. I had a circumcision, without a general anesthetic, which, I admit, traumatized me a bit! However, I've been experiencing palpitations for a long time, which are particularly bad when drinking beer or tea. I've been drinking beer continuously since I quit smoking in 1999. I've had ECG's a few times, but on each occasion the doctor has cleared me.

What Causes Chest Tightness And Heart Palpitations?
Hello, Since you are having chest tightness & palpitations, you need a thorough cardiac check-up. Chest tightness & palpitations are commonly due to angina, AF or developing CAD. You are suggested to visit a cardiologist & get physically examined. Get CBC, Urinalysis, X-Ray, repeat ECG, Echocardiography, Stress tests & lipid profile done to rule out angina, AF, valvular defects & any developing CAD. Take berries, fruits & veggies with whole grains & food cooked in olive oil. Avoid trans oil & junk / packaged food. Do regular exercises, avoid addictions if any. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
