my husband left side of his chest looks larger than normal. he has stage 4 colon cancer and is taking a chemo drug called stivarga. he stays in bed all day and night so i don;t know if its from lay on his side all this time. He can only lay on his left side for any relief from the cancer.
Thanks for your question on HCM. Yes, it is quite possible to have dependent edema on the dependent side. It is transudative, gravity dependent accumulation of fluid. But since your husband is cancer patient we have to think of other causes also. Pleural effusion (malignant) can cause isolated bulging of left side. So I advice you to first get done chest x ray. If it is normal than it must be from gravity dependent fluid accumulation.
