My SO woke up this morning cold and shivering. I put a heating pad under him and extra blankets on the bed but it did not seem to help. He took a hot shower and got back into bed and the shivering subsided in about 15 min. Then he felt very hot but we did not have a thermometer. I took his blood pressure after we got up and it was in the 160s/70s in both arms. He usually has low blood pressure. I went to the store to get a thermometer and some Tylenol. His first temp was 99.9. Gave him some Tylenol and took his temp an hour later - it was 100.5. His blood pressure was 110/58 in his right arm and 90/52 in his right. He is 70 years old and overweight but in good health otherwise. No diabetes, hypertension - cholesterol is WNL. I want to take him to the emergeny room. What do you think?
