What Causes Chlamydia Inspite Of Taking Azithromycin?

My daughter was diagnosed with Chlamydia in early June. She took Azithromicin and was retested 4 weeks later. Her boyfriend came back negative but she came back equivicable. She took another round of Azithromiacin and about three weeks later was still having a burning sensation in her bladder. She was tested for a UTI which was negative and took one round of Doxycyclene. That sensation had started to diminish at the end of the doxy treatment but 7 days later is starting to come back again. She was tested for all other STDs and all came back negative. She has not been with that boyfriend or anyone else since the second round of Azithromiacin. Should I take her to a urologist. Do you think that she has some persistent chlamydia or some sort of cystitis in her bladder. She is scheduled to have the test of cure on Sept 21. It is possible that it is resisting all antibiotics?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Chlamydia is sexually transmitted disease it may treated with Azithromycin or doxycycline for two weeks. Usually, it may not reoccur but second time infection may be due to other bacteria like ecoli or klebsiella or Proteus etc.

Please repeat the urine culture and microscopy if same bacteria, means treat according to drug sensitivity. If no improvement please consult with your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
