What Causes Choking Sensation, Myalgia, Nausea And Fever After Taking Macrobid?

Actually I am a physician but this a personal question.I have recently started taking a single macrobid to prevent UTIs with sex,I have had 2 bad infections that were not sensitive to anything but things I was allergic too. On three different occasions after taking one tablet I get a feeling when I breathe in like I swallowed too much water.I get myalgias, nausea and a fever. Not sure if this is related.I use this drug clinically all the time and have never heard of these six.Wasnt sure if I should be worked up for something else. You know how we Drs are.We hate to be hypochondriacs

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to a severe allergic reaction.

As a first line management, you can try antihistamines like Pheniramine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
