What Causes Chronic Abdominal Pain Along With Fever In A Child?

My son is 5 years old and he has been congested for the past couple of days. This morning he woke up burning up with fever (103) and throwing up. All day he has been complaining of abdominal pain. It s in the center right above the belly button. I figured it is just because he has been coughing and now vomiting. The pain is starting to get worst. About 5ish he was asleep and was rolling around crying saying his tummy hurt. It finally woke him up. That s all he has said is that his tummy hurts so bad. Should I just let this ride out or wait till Monday and take him to the doctor

Hello,

Any kind of illness in children should be given quick medical attention. Your kid is just 5 years old and he has such a high fever (103) which definitely is an indication to see a pediatrician. He also has been throwing up and has severe pain abdomen, likely due to an infectious cause.

I would suggest you to take your kid to a pediatrician and get an ultrasound abdomen done to see what the underlying cause behind it. There is need of bringing the fever down and stop the vomiting which will be managed well in ER. Some blood work should be done as per the doctor’s advice.

After getting all the results the doctor will be able to decide a treatment plan so that your kid will get relief from the symptoms with appropriate medicines.
