What Causes Chronic Burning Sensation In Feet With Tingling And Numbness In Toes?

I have chronic burning feet 24/7 with tingling and numbness in my toes. We put in ceramic tiles and hardwood through the house but the cooling effect lasts until I move my feet and if I step into the same spot right away it is too warm and I step away quickly. I wear sandles summer and winter. We put in central air conditioning and it helps a lot with keeping the floors cool. But sleeping is almost impossible.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The abnormal sensations that you are describing may be due to peripheral neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the peripheral nerves (nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord)

It maybe temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes such as: (1) vitamin b 12 or folate deficiency
(2)liver or kidney disease
(3)side effect of medication
(4)diabetes
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)infections such as shingles
(7)neurological conditions such as ms or stroke
(8)hormonal conditions such as thyroid disease
(9)idiopathic- cause is not known
(10)trauma eg arthritis or injury to the back or along the passage of the nerves can cause them to be compressed

To determine the exact cause, you would need to be assessed. This would include physical examination along with blood tests (liver, kidney, diabetes screening, vitamin levels).

There are medications that are used to help reduce the symptoms and your doctor may prescribe one of them for you eg lyrica, amitriptyline, gabapentin, tegretol etc

I hope this helps
