What Causes Chronic Chest Pain Along With Nausea?

My fiance had chest pains behind chest plate (and through to back) weeks ago that were intense. We went to the ER. After chest xray, EEG, overnight in hospital for stress test and nuclear cardio image, nothing was found. They perscribed 20mg prilosec. Followed up with family doctor, who diagnosed as costochondritis and subscribed low dose welbutrin (based on interview), and ibuprofen. Pain continues and unable to work. Went to student hospital to see cardio doctor, more tests: nuclear tests to image lungs, and veins from ankle to chest, another chest xray, MRI, echocardiogram. All negative. Chest pain continues- its most severe in the morning; also periodic nausea. Now being sent to gastro doctor. Thoughts welcomed! She needs relief!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
I suggest your fiance to use a gastro protector such as Prilosec in the morning before breakfast.
I also suggest to use an antacid such as Maloox three times per day.
I recommend to avoid food that can trigger the symptoms such as spicy food or too much caffeine.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
