What Causes Chronic Cough After Lung Cancer Recovery?

Hello, my Father a 71 yr old male recovered stage 3 lung cancer patent, is coughing a lot lately and just recently was checked for flu last Friday because I was diagnosed with flu type A. The hospital he went to said he did not have it then but he has been coughing more since then and it is the same bronchial type cough I have. He also says he is having a hard time breathing. is it possible he has caught the flu after 5 days later after being checked by a hospital that focused on his lung cancer and symptoms for repertory capacity instead of the flu?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that he is now showing the signs/symptoms of the flu.

In view of his restricted lung capacity because of the lung cancer, he may need to be reassessed by his doctor since the coughing has increased.
They can determine if the coughing is due to the flu or if related to any other causes.

Treatment would need to be started to help relieve his cough.

I hope this helps
