Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had chronic cough for 8 weeks... have taken 2 antibiotics, nasal sprays, otc tussins, salves, acid reflux meds, to no avail... still coughing. Could this be from acid reflux ? How will I know if so ? No sore throat; no lung rattles, no high temps... JUST COUGHING WHITE FOAMY PHLEGM, and seemingly head congestion. Thanks. B Stewart
In my opinion coughing white phlegm is not related to an acid reflux. White phlegm indicate the presence of an infection. White phlegm is often related time a viral bronchitis.
So, this can be the reason why antibiotics were not effective. I recommend you to use a mucolytic to relieve the cough. I also recommend to drink liquids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
