Hello.
A cough lasting for more than two weeks must not be ignored. There are many causes of blood in the phlegm such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, or even irritation of the throat from violent coughing.
Sometimes bleeding from outside lungs like nose, stomach etc can also be coughed up.
However its important to do a thorough workup.
Kindly visit your doctor, as details about the cough, amount of blood etc are required, in addition to a chest examination, blood test, sputum test and a radio-logical study like chest xray/CT.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
