What Causes Chronic Cough And Burning Sensation In The Chest?

Been to 2 different doctors this week... coughing my head off, chest burns when coughing, Tuesday .... normal 98 temp n blood pressure n clear mucus .... Dr prescribed cough medicine and an inhaler.... today ... thick green mucus , still coughing my head off, chest still burning, temp 97 degrees, blood pressure elevated 144/97.... 0xygen. .... 90.... Sent for chest X-ray...said normal Dr. Prescribed prednisone n Azithromycin card /6 tablets... no real diagnosis given. Any thoughts.

Hello welcome to the health care magic

As per history it seems to be acute bronchitis or pneumonia like condition.

Chest x ray normal as you said, so it could be bronchitis.

Steroid will help in relieving inflammation.

So complete course of it along with antibiotic

If still no improvement than sputum examination needed for further work up
