What Causes Chronic Cough And Heaviness In The Chest?
Hi. I received the flu vaccine last Monday. I became sick with loss of appetite, chilled to the bone, body aches in my back and shoulders, headache, tired and a fever (in the evening) on Wednesday. At 3am Thursday morning I vomited once and had diarrhea the remainder of the day. Friday I felt much better with no fever but became aware of a slight cough that became worse Saturday and Sunday. Now, it's Wednesday, and the cough is much worse and has given me a sore throat and mucus that feels stuck in my chest with a mild runny nose. My chest feels heavy at times, but I am currently able to breathe fine....but I feel the urge to cough constantly. Is this the flu? Did I have the flu possibly before the shot without knowing it? Will this get better any time soon or do I need to make a doctors appointment?
1. The commonest side effects of flu vaccine are fever, chills, joint pains, headache, tired feeling, weakness [the same which you are experiencing]
2. However, you may have flu-like symptoms if caused by other strains of influenza virus. [which could possibly explain a constant cough (pneumonia/ bronchitis)]
PS. you cannot get flu from flu vaccine since virus in flu vaccine are killed and because it takes two weeks for people to build up immunity, some people may catch flu after they are vaccinated, if they are exposed to flu during this time period.
3. check with your healthcare provider who may diagnose you with flu based on your symptoms and their clinical judgment or they may choose to use an influenza diagnostic test. our health care provider may diagnose you with flu based on your symptoms and their clinical judgment or they may choose to use an influenza diagnostic test.
