What Causes Chronic Cough And Shortness Of Breath?

Every 4 to 6 weeks I have a bad coughing attack and short on breath. I have to go the the Dr. and get steroids, antibiotics and do a breathing treatment. No one seem to understand why it comes back as soon as the steroids are out of my system. It has happened at least 7 times since Nov. 2016. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic

Your symptoms are suggestive of Asthma.
The most important factor in controlling asthma symptoms is to avoid triggering factors. There are several triggering factors like dust, cold, exercise, medication like aspirin etc for asthma. Try to iddntify your referring factor and avoid it.
Pulmonary function tests can help confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment of asthma includes bronchodilators, corticosteroids , leukotriene inhibitors and mast cell stabilizer.
Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.
