What Causes Chronic Cough, Foam Like Vomiting And Breathlessness?

Hi my four year old daughter is suffering from a really harsh cough she s gets it quite a lot comes and goes throughout winter and summer a lot worse in winter, and worser on the night, but a couple of times now when she gets the coughs she also sick white and foamy vomit, what could this be? Also complains with pain in her chest and out of breath quite easy when got the cough.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic cough, foam like vomiting and breathlessness which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and antiinflammatory medications. You should do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 5 days along with decongestant. Avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
