What Causes Chronic Cough In An Adolescent With Autism And Epilepsy?

My grandson is a 16 year non verbal boy with Autism and Epilepsy.. He takes Prevacid 30 mg in the morning for acid reflex.. About 8 months ago he started having symptoms of coughing and throwing up randomly.. It didnt even appear to come from the stomach.. almost as if the food never made it to the stomach. His GI doctor has prescribed a medication for stomach ulcers which worked as a remedy for about four months. He takes this medication once a day.. Now for the past month he started randomly coughing again, until he throws up either food or phlem . His face turns red and he holds the back of his head while he has these coughing spells. I am worried that the medication was masking something else that is going on

I think the cough may come from reflux.
Taking reflux medications can help reduce the cough.
Also take any antihistamines to reduce inflammation.
