What Causes Chronic Cough, Raw Chest With Wheezing Sound?
I have had a chronic cough for months which recently has been becoming worse. My chest feels raw. When I cough it makes a wheezing sound. No cough mixtures help. I also feel faint when I cough and have experienced pains down my arms when sneezing. I have also had continued problems with acid reflux for a long period. Recently I have been experiencing cold shivers and joint pains but it helps when I take Myprodol. Could this be related to something more serious?
Hi. I need to know your age and personal history. If you are in the middle age and smoking history is positive I suggest you to avoid smoking as it triggers acid reflux due to relaxing effect on the lower esophageal sphincter. Since, you do not have a history of fever, I presumably rule out any infection. The chronic cough could also be due to the reflux of the acidic contents of the stomach into the lungs especially during recumbent position resulting in aspiration. You need an X ray of the chest. also avoid going to bed immediately after dinner. I recommend minimum of 2 hrs time interval for going to bed after dinner. Also use a high pillow to prevent reflux. You can also try using Syrup Muciane Gel 5 ml twice a day. Hope this helps.
