What Causes Chronic Cough With Phlegm In Throat While On Tamoxifen?

My husband has been on flomax for 15 yrs. He has always had a problem with post nasal drip, I assume to be from nasal congestion caused in part by flomax. However, this has not been a huge problem. 3 months ago he was put on tamoxifen and it seems to be much worse and has problems getting the phlegm coughed up from throat. Could this worsening be caused by the tamoxifen. He was put on it for breast cancer with metastisis to bones.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is not related to tamoxifen.
It could be a simple upper respiratory infection.
You can try expectorant cough syrup to clear mucus and secretions.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
