my mother has a cough that been quite chronic. and now she has trouble breathing she feels pressure from her waist up to her chest . the dr took an exray and results were clear . she has hypo hypothyroidism and is on med for it as well as fibromyalgia med.. im really worried.she is out of breath even to talk.please help

Chronic cough with breathlessness in old age people is commonly caused by bronchitis. Chest x ray is mostly normal in this because it is not structural lung disease. We need to get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) for the diagnosis of bronchitis. It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
