What Causes Chronic Diarrhea After Taking Tamiflu?

i have a friend who was sick with a cold/sinus infection then the flu during the month of february. He literally was sick the entire month. Since taking tamiflu for the flu he has had diarrhea pretty much every day. He eats and then has diarrhea... today up to 5 times. Any correlation with all the medicines he has taken?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Let me tell you that although not very common, Tamiflu can cause diarrhea.

He should stop taking Tamiflu. If he is still having watery diarrhea, then Loperamide will have to be taken till diarrhea stops.

Also, ask him to take extra electrolyte powder to compensate for the loss. If diarrhea still continues, he should consult his physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
