What Causes Chronic Diarrhea Along With Abdominal Bloating?

My husband has type 2 diabetes and was on Metformin. He had problems with frequent diarrhea, bloating and gas. He was taken off of Metformin and put on Novolin insulin. His symptoms stayed the same so he just has a colonoscopy with upper stomach scope. Everything was clear but they noticed the lining of his stomach was inflamed slightly and took a biopsy which we haven t heard from yet. He has lost 20 lbs in the last year and looks frail and no muscles. What other reasons would there be for the diarrhea, etc. YYYY@YYYY thanks Sorry No paying for answer - forget it
