What Causes Chronic Diarrhea And Excessive Flatulence Despite Taking Imodium?

Hi,I am a 62 year old women. I have the following symptoms all the time, lots of gas, frequent bowel movements, cramping after drinking coffee or milk products. Can have violent episodes of diarrhea and vomiting about 3-4 hours after eating greasy or very rich foods. Recently had a colonoscopy and it was clear. I try to control the problem by watching my diet but not working very well. Does this appear to be a more serious problem that requires medical attention or just make more changes in my diet? I also frequently take Gas-X and Imodium tablets. I have started using lactose free products but I still have the problem,Thanks,Karen

Hi,

Seems intestine sensitivity to particular foodstuffs and liquids intake. I would recommend making a chart of food intake on a regular basis and co-relation with diarrhoea episodes.

Imodium is not a solution for the same. Basic lifestyle modifications, probiotics and regular physician follow up would be best helpful for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
