Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have MS and for the past few years I have been having diearreah that I cannot control. 5-6 times a day. mostly water, no form. I am also diabetic 2 . This is most embarrassing. I also had mesh surgery to replace bladder 3 times then I went to Emory in Atlanta, had a lengthy surgery. It helped some with the constant UTI I was having. Now the UTI is back and worse. raw and irritated. I am to go back to Emory the 21st. Could any of this be from MS?
Many people may develop diarrhea and UTI with some types of bacteria. A common bacteria that can cause this may be enterobacter or enterococcus. This can affect both the bowel and the bladder.
This may cause burning pain while urinating and may cause diarrhea in some people. This may not always be a symptom of MS though.
Also, MS is a diagnosis of exclusion and it would be best to rule out other causes before MS can be confirmed.
In case the symptoms persist, seeing a doctor would be a good idea.
I hope this helps. All the best.
