Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had diarrhea for 4 months. I just had a colonoscopy, some polyps removes. This is new. Also I just had my left thyroid removed and the isthmus. It is cancer. Ther right side will be removed later his summer. I am on metforman ,losec , atorvastatin, levothyroxine, celexa can I take an antidirreah med like Imodium?
Based on the history you have shared, the chronic diarrhea is less likely to be associated with colonoscopy. The possible causes in your case would include drugs most probably levothyroxine and metformin. I won’t suggest you to take anti-diarrheal as it would not solve your problem in the long run. Consult your Physician and get your drug chart revised after running some basic blood tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
