Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been suffering from cronic diarrhea now for several years. It s mostly watery diarrhea, and I m going like 15 to 20 times a day. A lot of the time it is after I eat, and last for a while. When I have to go, only part of it comes out, and I sit on the toilet for 10 to 30 minutes trying to go more, but only tiny amounts come out. I don t get much sleep because I m up continously going to the bathroom at night. I have messed myself 3 times today because I didn t make it to the bathroom on time. What could be causing this? What should I ask my gastro doctor to do. Can they put me in the hospital and run a battery of tests?
You are having diarrhea for many years. Hence it should not be neglected. Your stool occult test and stool culture have first done to check for any pus cells, parasites egg if present then colonoscopy examination and a biopsy were taken if needed to do further work up. According to the cause, further management plan decided. You can consult a gastroenterologist for examination and for colonoscopy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
