What Causes Chronic Diarrhoea Along With Abdominal Pain And Fatigue?

I had a gastric bypass 4 and a half months ago. I was exposed to a gastroenteritis type illness over the weekend, and I now have explosive diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise, fatigue, and nausea. I know that it is very easy for me to get dehydrated when I do not have diarrhea, if I don t get enough fluids during the day. After how many episodes of diarrhea do I need to head to the ER to be checked for dehydration?

Hi,

You just compensate the fluid and electrolytes lost in motions by oral water. This will prevent dehydration. When you observe dry tongue, shrivelled skin, rapid pulse and decreased urinary output of yourself, rush to the ER for help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
