What Causes Chronic Excessive Sweating Upon Minimal Exertion, Tachycardia And Headache?

I have had excessive sweating for the last two years. It is usually triggered by very minimal exertion. I can sweep the living room and within 10 mins my hair is soaked and my clothes are damp. I also have episodes when I go to the grocery store, by the time I get out and try putting my groceries the car, I am weak, have tachycardia, profusely sweating, headache and feel as though I may pass out. I also sweat after showers and cannot dry my hair until I sit for a while because I sweat too much. I do take blood pressure meds and was just put on bystolic for the tachy. Is there a reason for concern? I m so sick of this!

Hello,

Well, The amount of sweat considered normal is quite variable and depends on the demands of the body.

Excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, means that you sweat far more than your body needs you to sweat. For example, if you sweat while sitting calmly at your desk, that is excessive sweating.

In hyperhidrosis, the body's cooling mechanism is so overactive that it produces four or five times the amount of sweat that you need.

However, sometimes if sweating happens during the night or there is associated weight loss then it may indicate some more serious issues such as lymohima or hormonal imbalances. In every case, if this persist you should see internist first to do some tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
