What Causes Chronic Fatigue And Breathlessness?

Hi. I am wondering what may be the cause for chronic fatigue and shortness of breath. I am 23, 5 10 and weigh 170 lbs. I am in good shape, even though I have been unable to workout for about 5 months due to a hip injury. I still do yoga and go for walks to try and keep from gaining weight (which is hard, I have definitely gotten less muscular and more flabby). I don t really have allergies other than dust. I am not asthmatic. I am able to workout when I have the energy for it and my resting heart rate is still between 60 and 75. This started after traveling to Indonesia in December. thoughts?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

The most important thing to be ruled out in this setting is anemia. Doing hemoglobin level will help in this (it should be >12g/dL). If anemia is ruled out, and you do not have any other symptoms like recurring fever, anorexia, weight loss or edema, we need not worry much. Just ensure a healthy diet, adequate sleep and a happy mood. In presence of above symptoms, this need further evaluation with help of your doctor

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
