What Causes Chronic Insomnia And Excessive Weight Loss While On Adderall?

My sister-in-law has been on Addeerall for about 6 months. My brother is concerned because she isn t sleeping, she lost a lot of weight and she seems to obsess on certains things. She used to be a bubbly, happy-go-lucky type of person and now she is quiet and pensive. She s talking about leaving and my brother said she keeps obsessing about things that happened in the past, as if they just happened yesterday. She wasn t like this at all before. Can he call her doctor and report his concerns, what with all the HIPAA laws. She won t tell the doctor because she likes that she s sleeping less, has more energy and is getting things done and she s thrilled with her weight loss. We ve all noticed a change with her as well.

Hi,

You are very right, this drug can cause sleeplessness and weight loss. So, for the same reasons it is liked and misused by patients. Also, for the same reasons these drugs should only be prescribed by specialist doctor's and carefully followed. If you think he has been worsened by the drugs you can talk to his doctor and express your concern.
