What Causes Chronic Insomnia?

i have been unable to sleep for about fourbdays. my opinion is that it has to do with my nervoussyptioms. i toss & TURN CONSTANTLY AND CANNOT GET IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION. I have recently started CPAP breathing & I feel the machine & mask are working as it should but after about 1 1/2 hour after going to bed I begin my tossing & turning. YYYY@YYYY

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you have mentioned you are having sleep disturbances since 4 days. Four days of sleep disturbances don't come under chronic insomnia, it can be treated as acute insomnia. You have not mentioned the reason why CPAP was started for you. I would suggest you to consult a psychiatrist for your sleep problem and you may need to start melatonin for sleep disturbances.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prashant Gohil
