What Causes Chronic Nausea, Bloating, Constipation And Appetite Loss?

My husband has chronic nausea, bloating, constipation and loss of appetite. At times he has no symptoms at all but most days he doesn t feel well. He has difficulty digesting heavy meals especially beef and he is affected by some dairy products. He has seen a doctor and they have ruled out ulcers. He has no burning or acid reflux just the constant feeling of nausea. His meal portions are small because he feels full very quickly. Just wondering if this could be caused from some type of parasite and what kind of tests he should be taking to find out what is going on. He has been dealing with this for a couple years now and it sometimes affects his ability to work. Any input is appreciated.

Hi,

Constipation may be caused by several issues, however you should try first with changing lifestyle and dietary habits.

You need to increase fiber intake.

Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, bread, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans.

Also, you should exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too.

Second, you may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories.

If there won't be an improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry, and food allergy testing.

In some cases, it may be also signed of tumors so it should be ruled out if symptoms persist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
